No money no talk

Ever since the arrival of Aden, we've spent quite alot of money on his clothes, diapers, formula milk, toys, stroller, bedding, baby bottles, monthly check-up and medication and etc etc... In fact, money already spent when I got pregnant (tried to give him the best when he was still in my womb ^^)

What I wanna say is baby stuff is really not cheap at all these days. I only got abit hands-me-down from friends so we have to buy most of the stuff. They say baby doesnt need much clothing as they grow up very fast but, how can you resist from buying? Baby clothes are so so cute! Especially the girl ones... hehe.

One thing we need to spend for sure is the formula milk, I think that's the most expensive thing. Aden is taking Dumex formula milk and a tin of 1.5kg cost about RM 120. He finishes a tin in about 2 weeks time =_= I think that's why breastfeeding is greatly encouraged, and that's also one of the reason I am still giving him breast milk, though not every meal.

Hubby and I are planning to open a bank saving account for Aden soon, I think it's good so that the money can be used in the future. I think very soon, we'll have to settle for his education, haha =D I'm not sure but my aunty actually told me to get Aden register in school earlier as this is the year of Dragon, many Dragon kids are expected. To me this seems like few more years to go and I don't see the need of it. I even thought may be she is abit exaggerate, but erm...... Let's not bother about it now, afterall Aden is only 3 months plus now ^_*

But anyway, I am thankful that we dont have to worry so much about financial for Aden. Of course I am trying not to over spoilt even though he is the first child. I believe early education is important =)

  3. that day in the Star, I stumbled upon an article talking bout how much parents will pay nowadays for better education in a better environment versus families who can't afford thus affecting the child's progress no matter how bright the child might be.

Got a shock at the fees :(

Sorry...that did not sound very encouraging:(

But I know you will give the best you can to baby Aden and baby Aden although young, am sure feels your love too :)

we dint open any bank saving account for our kid, but we invested in saving insurance for both of them.

hmm...now talk about their education, i really worry about the school intake, i think i got to shift to some kampung place where have fewer students to compete with

  5. Well you already know how bad I am with baby clothes tehe but atleast if you have another of the same sex you have stuff for the baby you don't have to buy more for next time! Formula is so so expensive here too that is why I am so determined to breast feed! However school isn't worry here as people are not rushing to have dragon babies.

  6. Money is important and upbringing of the child is equally important. I know you can manage them well.

p/s: You can't register your child to school until he reaches 5 years old, the intake opens in March.

  7. yes baby stuff are not cheap. wonder how people get by those days? Baby formula are very expensive, time the government do something about this! You have stop breast feeding him already? You might want to think about buying insurance for him too. I think they have special type where you pay for only up to certain years and then it will take care of itself or something like that la.

  8. yes, baby stuffs are expensive.. when during the first year, I take as many hand me downs as possible, then fully breastfeed (die die must do) and put my girl on local made cloth diaper.. that's save me quite a fair bit...

  12. I support your idea of having a saving account for Aden. I also have accounts for my 2 girls. I will bank in their Angpow money, and our year end bonus in their account.

I believe you can spend wisely and economically. But what you need, and not what you want.

  18. yum milk powder is indeed costy . . . if you got 2 kids in the same year, it will be even worst for ur wallet :P just saying hehehe

  19. Yes, the prices of baby stuff, esp milk powder will only go up, not down. There's a brand, during Chloe's time, can get for RM60+ for 1.7kg... now, RM100+ already! Crazy, right? It's good to open a savings account for Aden too... I believe that savings should start from Day 1 hehe. Chloe also has an account since her fullmoon (after receiving a lot of fullmoon angpaus).

  21. 现在养一个小孩真的不简单,就算提供最基本的还是一种负担。我的小孩未出世,我们已经花钱像流水一样,相信更大笔的流水帐在后头呢~>_<

  22. not only bank saving account for ur baby, but you may consider of insurance also! as what hongkie said nowadays, to raise a kid, they need HKD4mil. That's y most of the ppl esp living in city, they prefer single hood or without children, enjoy their quality life than having a kid as burden.
