Of temples

I am a Buddhist and though not a very superstitious and holy ones, I do pray and ask for ang kong's blessing too 😛

During the recent Nine Emperor Gods festival, I drove to Butterworth's famous Tow Boo Kong temple (斗母宫).
It was my first time there, heard so much about this magnificent temple and finally, I got to witness its beauty!

Not hard locating this temple, Waze! xD

It was near to 7pm when we arrived, not a very good evening as it started to drizzle! But luckily just for a while...

The inside of the temple is really beautiful and well maintained!

And it's huge and somehow 'cooling' in there! Probably due to the weather~

My parents, aunties and 2 sons followed too! Yep, it was quite happening in the car, haha!

I asked for ang kong's blessing, prayed that family and I stay healthy and safe always!

After praying, we walked to the opposite food stalls to have our vegan dinner.
No food photos :p
The food choice is quite a lot there compared to Taiping, but taste wise, mediocre, nothing to shout about, and not cheap too in fact.

It rained again when we were about to leave =_=
I really dislike driving on highway, at night, raining somemore...
Luckily we reached home safe and sound, must be the ang kong who heard my prayers =)

Few days later, FIL jio us to Sitiawan to visit the Tua Pek Kong temple (大伯公庙).
I've been there once only, during 2012. Don't really like to go cause not only it's far (about 90 minutes journey, no highway, only old roads), it's very hot too!

Anyway, we arrived at the temple around 11am.

 It was another hot day!
So hot that couldn't resist to take some cold Pepsi!

The zodiac statues are still there like last time.
Aden's zodiac is Dragon

I actually took a photo with this statue back in 2012, I was about 8 months pregnant with Aden.
5 years later now, Aden is no longer inside my belly, see how big he has grown! Haha!

Toby's zodiac is Goat

Mine, Rat

And hubby's, oink oink!
He did not join the trip that day, our sons took photo on behalf la! Haha!

Nearby the zodiac statues you'll see a beautiful pond with lots of fat hungry Koi fishes!

Feeding is allowed!

Another pond with some dragon water spout with a ball in the middle

And other giant granite God statues too!

Can you tell it was indeed a very hot day?
Eyes hardly open!

Always can capture picture like this if you have an uncooperative kid =_="

Go temple also get shopping loots LOL!
These 2 toy guns cost FIL RM50~
Actually there's some souvenir and food stalls in the temple, also a stall selling toys which caught the kids' attention

We did not stay long since it was really hot.
Left the temple for lunch, then stopped by Segari turtle sanctuary located at Pantai Remis, while on our way back Taiping.

Hello beautiful turtles!

And lots of baby turtles too! So cute!

Ok la Aden, I know you are tired, just a quick tour and we hopped into the car already!

Reached home in the evening, everybody were dead tired, we all slept very well that night, hehehe!

  1. So godly. Beautiful golden temple.

  2. The Tua Pek Kong temple, many beautiful statues...

    1. Yes, got others but I din't take photos...

  3. That's a beautiful temple. Hope your prayers are answered.

  4. Both of these Taoist temples look well maintained so are worth visiting. Looks like an enjoyable trip for everyone!

    1. Yes, hot and tiring, but quite nice to see la ;)

  5. The temple is so beautiful, so golden! It is always very nice to see you and your boys spending time together.

  6. Hello Hayley, I am a Buddhist too, but not a practicing one. Only go to Temples when we have overseas visitors. There are many Buddhist temples in Toronto, large ones too.
The temple you visited in Butterworth really beautiful, looks very serene, love the elaborate structure and carvings.

As well the one in Sitiawan. The last time I was in Sitiawan was wayyyyy back late '70s. Used to go eat seafood at nearby Pantai Remis. Would go to Taiping, come out near Port Weld during my working days.
Your boys really growing up fast! And you looking have not changed even with 2 kids, still the very attractive girl from before.
Have a nice week, keep well.

    1. Hi Lee!
Really? I never know there are many temples in Toronto!

Yes, seafood is well known in Pantai Remis, fresh, but nowadays, not cheap anymore.

Thanks for the compliment, must keep myself looking good, age is catching up, hahaha!

  7. This is such a happy family outing! I am curious to visit that temple in Butterworth too.
You looked so young in the photos while we are all getting older!

    1. Got time pay it a visit la! Can drop by Taiping too! =)

Erm, perhaps is photo angles la! We all are getting older one ma! xD

  8. I had been to nine emperors temple and Tua Pek Kong temple in SG too, I love visiting temples

  9. wah so nice leh. Chosen a goo time to go temple . not hot

  10. It's good to have short outing like these, better than stay at home and watch TV or play tablets :P

好久好久没来篇像样的华语post咯! 今天就算牺牲美容觉也得呕出一篇来回馈我亲爱的读者朋友们,我知道有时看太多鸡肠对眼睛不好 xDD 怎样,我抵錫吗?:p
Hmm

BFF trip to Bangkok 2013: The food post

Bangkok is not only a heaven for the men shopping but also food! I've actually Google and blog hopping beforehand to see what's worth to eat at Bangkok, can only chose the most popular ones as we were there for only 4 days 3 nights, a very rush trip.
I've filtered out those food we ate during the trip which I think worth mentioning.
@ Food court, Platinum Mall Green curry chicken rice
Beef noodles
Fruit crepe
The food court is so big here in Platinum Mall, hundreds of tables are provided but almost all are occupied.

Dessert @ Swensen, Platinum Mall

(pale looking face, first day after touching down) Swensen is not in my itinerary, we decided to go here instead of Mr Jones Orphanage at Siam Center cause of the location. Siam Center is further away from where we stay, but Platinum Mall is just about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. End up, no regrets! Much cheaper and yummier compared to Malaysia.

T&K seafood, Chinatown  (It's easier to get here by metered cab)

By far…

2D1N Hatyai trip

I have been to Hatyai many times and I am not bored of it yet, haha!! xD
It's one of my favorite place to go, I mean considering the fact that I can't really travel oversea at the moment (no money and no time).
But traveling to Hatyai is still consider 'oversea' la right? 😆 It's just that we go there by car instead of plane.... Just 2 hours plus to reach kastam, almost like from Taiping to KL.

We had a short getaway to Hatyai last month, it was 2 days after the Songkran festival. We tagged Aden and Toby along so hubby suggested to avoid that festival.

Journey was smooth from Taiping all the way to the kastam, just the queue at the kastam was a bit tiring. We managed to check in early, lucky!

We stayed at Grand Pink hotel, I simply love this hotel because the room is big and clean! Staff service is nice too! Highly recommended, heard it's been refurnished lately. It's located next to Lee Garden Plaza so it's easy to find!
I also love the spacious bathro…
