Met up with some lovely people

Besides reunion, CNY is about gathering, food and drinks too. This water Dragon year I managed to meet up with my friends who is working and staying at KL.

On the 3rd day of CNY, a lovely blogger friend came to Taiping with her family. You probably knew it already if you followed Yan's blog.

It was Barbara and her husband, together with their little missy, Ashley

The meeting was organized by Angeline, the food also ordered by her. Thanks!

Barbara was thoughtful enough to bring each of us some gift. I got these cookies and nuts as well as a cute pair of baby shoes from her. Thank you so much Barb, it was a pleasure meeting you and family!

There was also a surprise visit by my senior, Evelyn.

It has been years since I last saw Evelyn, she is my senior during Form 6. It was only a short chat because I got another gathering to attend, nonetheless we catched up quite alot ^^

Carment, my former Form 6 friend was in town too. We had been waiting for this meeting for months ;) She is still that pretty and slim, really made me envious....

There was also a dinner treat by my cousin on 2nd day of CNY, since most of her brothers were back in town. A family photo, minus my elder brother who was occupied by some business =_=

Some of my aunties and cousins from father's side. Dinner was at Jin Yu Man Tang. No photos of the food though. All eatery place was packed with people during CNY, food served quite slow and not all tasted good..........

I have no idea when will we meet again after these gatherings. Perhaps during the next gathering, I'll bring my baby boy along~ haha :D

After so long...

This post is specially dedicated to a good friend of mine, Eve, who has been working in Singapore for years.

She is my ex school mate and we managed to meet up during CNY after so long. I think the last time I saw her was during my wedding reception in 2010.

Anyway, on the first day of CNY, I followed hubby and in laws to grandma's house for misua breakfast. It has been a trend in the house, misua is a symbol of longevity among the Chinese.

I had Yee Sang several times already this year.....

Package is RM 538. I think it's slightly expensive but I think this is the CNY price. Food were ok, nothing to shout about.

Dinner ended early and we went to a friend's house for some gambling session. They say pregnant lady has good luck, but not for me this time, I actually lost some money, LOL.

The 4th day of CNY

Holiday comes and ends fast, it's already the 4th day of CNY and I believe many people have started working already.

So how was your CNY?

-I was able to meet up with my friends and had a good time catching up with each other. (Will blog about it soon)
-Ate and drink a lot too haha.
-And because of that I was kinda tired these few days, plus weather is freakingly hot too!!
-Hubby and I went for a very last minute shopping on CNY eve and he got me a new camera woohoo~

The new Nikon 1. We too bought another pancake lens and an external flash. Ain't my new toy handsome? ^^

-Met up with relatives too and many commented that I don't look like 6 months preggie cause my baby bump is still quite 'small'. But my face did 'changed' and I did put on some weight.

-Baby moves and kicks more frequently now! Will go for my 5th check-up tomorrow and I can't wait to see my baby boy again! ;)

I know it's boring to start work this early but hey, Friday is here and that means weekend is approaching too! So, smile and cheer up! ^-*

BDS annual dinner

Second day of CNY! Hope you're having fun!

Black Dog Society (BDS) held it's annual dinner last Saturday at Hu Jing Ge restaurant (湖景阁), Flemington Hotel. Well, actually not really a formal annual dinner, just an excuse for us to have fun to welcome the year of dragon ^^

I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Of course, Yee Sang is a must have in this festive season~ (RM 48)

And the main star, 'phoon choy' (盘菜) for 10 pax (RM 538)

Total bill for all 21 of us is RM 1248, the guys brought their own liquor so no charges for drinks.
The food were great and best of all, we all had fun that night, no other disturbance as we were sitting in the VIP room.

I reckon that was a great start to welcome the Dragon year~

Vegetarian kind of reunion

My ex colleagues from Costing department still remember to call me out for dinner even after I resigned from the company 5 months ago.

We had advance CNY reunion dinner at one of the vegetarian restaurant in town

Nice catching up with them, lots of gossiping and laughter

And these are the food we ordered:

Total bill is RM120 including a jug of sugar cane juice. Vegetarian dishes really don't come cheap huh! Luckily, the food taste good!

Honey Cornflakes Cookies

Finally, I gained myself some mood to utilise the microwave at home.

Baked some honey cornflakes cookies to welcome the CNY!
This is an easy recipe which require no baking skills at all.

1. First, melt a bar of unsalted butter (I use the brand Anchor, 227g) and 3-4 tbsp of honey (or up to your own preference) using the double boiled method.

2. Crush cornflakes (I use Kellogg's, 205g). Then pour the mixture from step 1 into a bowl, add in the crushed cornflakes and stir well.

3. Spoon them into baking cups.

4. Put into microwave at about 125 °C for about 15 minutes. Alternatively, you can sprinkle some colored rice on top for a nicer finish.

Tada! Ingredients above is able to make about 80-90 cups of cornflakes

1. Well, CNY is less than a week away and by now, I've:
-Spring cleaning the room
-Put on CNY decorations at my mum's place
-Shopped enough clothing for myself

Guess there's nothing much left now except for preparing red packets as I haven't got new notes yet, and also bake some CNY cookies (if I'm still in the mood). Otherwise, might just buy from outside.

2. Bought some nga ku last weekend and finished them all by myself within 2 days =_=
I know I know, I'm not suppose to eat too much of this stuff right now but it's super addictive la!

I have very good appetite these days and besides the basic 3 meals, I snack in between meal times. I can still eat right after a proper dinner. I'm a glutton mum-to-be now!!
According to my own records, I've gained about 6kg so far. Hubby never comment on my diet pattern but now he does.... =_="

3. Not sure if it's the pregnancy thingy but I've become super forgetful these days....... So I have the habit to write EVERYTHING on a note pad now, before I forget about it the next second.

4. I still experience sleeping disturbance every now and then, but I have to say it's becoming better compare to 2 months ago. Some people say it'll become worst during the 3rd trimester but whatever it is, I will and I am enjoying my 2nd trimester now before it ends.

5. Still haven't figure out a name for my baby though I've been googling for the passed few days. And don't mention about baby clothing and necesseties, hubby and I haven't start shopping for him yet. Hubby is getting busy these days, hopefully he's able to find some free slots to bring me to KL for some shopping =)

Sushi King Yee Sang

Friends and I tried the Sushi King Yee Sang last Friday night.

Ordered the big one for 8 of us, RM38.88, with RM8 ang pao voucher

Well, didn't taste very good, actually I felt that the smaller ones taste better, LOL

Also ordered salmon set and piri piri chicken set to share

These days, I felt that my look changed everytime I look at my own photos... LOL

Baby gender

During the 3rd month of pregnancy, I had a sudden instinct that I'm carrying a baby boy in me. It's hard to explain but just a pure 'mother instinct' I guess.
But I din't wanna think too much cause all I pray is that the baby is fine and healthy.

So now that I'm about 21 weeks preggie, it's time to find out the gender so that hubby and I can start to shop for appropriate baby necessities! ^^

Went for a 3D ultrasound yesterday and....................

Yep, I'm having a baby boy! ^^

Called hubby right after the check up and though he wants a baby girl more, he wasn't disappointed as well, knowing that the baby is healthy and everything else is good in me (That's all we asking for). Doctor also said he has a strong heartbeat ^^

The moment I saw his face through the ultrandsound, I almost cried T.T

The feeling is simply amazing!

I still remember he was this tiny back in October....

Anyway, now that we know it's a boy, it's time to think of a name too! Hubby says he'll leave this ~~difficult~~ important task to me since I'm so free..................... =_=

Zhong Hwa Hin BKT

BKT (bak kut teh) is one of my favourite dish, but I try not to have it too often as it's quite heaty.
Recently hubby and I tried the newly opened dry BKT located at Zhong Hwa Hin (中华轩) chinese restaurant.
It sells dim sum in the morning and BKT is available at 12pm-3pm and 6pm-9pm.

We ordered one pot of normal soup BKT (lots of ingredients to chose from). The soup is just nice to me as I prefer the not-so-thick type

Must not forget Enoki mushroom, my favourite! But this huge Enoki doesn't taste as good as the smaller ones...

This is the dry version of BKT. I know it looks all black LOL. We chosed pork ribs and it also has dried chili and ladies fingers inside. It taste good but abit too sweet for me

Total bill for the above is RM37.70 including chinese tea. Cheap or not, I'll leave to you to judge.....

Service wise, tolerable but of course depends on the numbers of customers too.

Zhong Hwa Hin is the North Chamber Association Taiping (北霹雳中华工商会), located just opposite the famous Taiping lake garden (also beside Restaurant Taman Tasik, 初记小贩中心).

One thing I like about this restaurant is that it's spacious and fully air conditioned ;) Also, you'll see the beautiful lake garden once you walk out from the restaurant.

p/s: Ok, that night, I felt quite guilty as I wallop alot of pork........ =_=

Dinner at Jin Yu Man Tang

It's been a while since 'the gang' had dinner together. Most of us are busy with own things or taking care of babies...

Since CNY is approaching, hubby organized a reunion dinner at Jin Yu Man Tang (金玉满堂) restaurant.

As usual, I'm the one doing the 'homeworks' (means taking photos).

Here's what we ordered:

Overall, the food taste nice! But do very specific with the number of pax eating because the portion of dishes may not be enough.

We waited for about 25 mins even though we already reserved a table and ordered the dishes in advance..... So my advice is to not go there during weekends, LOL.

Total bill is RM192.40 including drinks for 12 adults, which I think quite reasonable.

Prune juice

Read about this Sunsweet Prune Juice through a magazine and says it's good for pregnant lady (READ HERE). So I bought a bottle to try.

946ml and if I'm not mistaken, it's about RM12 per bottle. The color is exactly like the dried prunes and looks like the Chinese 'koh teh' (苦茶)....

This juice is made from plump with no sugar or artificial preservatives added and is rich in iron and potassium.

Other benefits are:-
-Helps in digestive system
-Lower cholesterol level
-Rich in fiber and helps in constipation issue
-Beneficial to skin cell and brain cell membranes

The label says it's best enjoyed with ice, blend into fruit drinks or mix with bran muffin recipe. At this point I do not want too much icy stuff so I just drink it in room temperature.

The taste? Well to be honest, I prefer the dried prunes than drinking this juice. It is sour and weird, especially when I'm not drinking it cold. But overall still tolerable to me.

1. Many of you were asking me about my dragon baby boy/baby girl. Frankly speaking I have no idea yet :P
I'm now 5 months plus and still enjoy every single moment of it.
I know baby gender can be easily determined at this stage but the gynea doctor din't tell me during my last check up, and I also din't ask, LOL.
Anyway, it doesn't matter if it's a boy or girl as long as I know he/she is healthy.
But I'm planning to go for a 3D ultrasound next week and I hope by then, my baby won't be too shy to show his/her___ to me ^^

Also, I started to feel some light baby kicks since few weeks ago and the feeling is, more than amazing ;)

2. Chinese New Year is approaching in another 2 weeks plus and apart from spring cleaning and shopping, it's time for me to prepare some red packets.
Speaking about red packet, our Black Dog Society (BDS) has come out with own red packets this year :D

Though it's not red, I think yellow packet is pretty cool too, right! What important is the logo at the back which says 'Find us on Facebook', hahaha :D Just follow trend~

I also wanna do some CNY decorations to kill time.......

I have new and used red packets but just too lazy to get it started.......... =_=

Time to housekeep

Today is the first day of work after the long weekend, though I'm not working right now but I can certainly understand how it feels going to the office after the long holiday... =_=

Entering the new year, I do have a list of things I wanna do.
Apart of housekeep my room, I also want to housekeep my Facebook friend lists and delete whatever unnecessary applications.

Also, I wish to give my blog a new look but that will takes me some times haha. But one thing I can do now is to housekeep my blog rolls.
There're bloggers whom I support and leave comments on and off but sadly they din't do the same to my blog, so it's time to remove those and keep whoever loyal, LOL. (Sorry in advance....)

Alright, it's tea time and I'm about to indulge in something sweet...

The Darkest Hour 2011

This is the first movie I watched in the cinema in the year 2012. Of course, I definetely don't hope the story of the movie would happen to the real world, LOL.

The main focus in the movie is about how 5 young people survive themselves after a serious unknown 'alien' attack in Moscow. It isn't an easy ones as those 'aliens' are somehow invisible to bare eyes. In the end, only 2 survive among the 5 of them......

To me, the whole storyline is plain and easy to understand. Nothing very exciting to shout about but it's good to watch.

Anyway, I realise that Moscow becomes a favourite spot for movie shooting. Well, I hope to visit it one day but then again, it's in Russia....... =_=

Year 2011, to me...

1 more day and we'll be welcoming 2012, the so called doomsday year =_=

I'd like to do a quick recap of something memorable throughout the whole 2011.

January:
- Black Dog Society's first charity event to the orphanage and old folks home.

February:
It was Chinese New Year and my first year distributing ang paos to the youngers...

March:
First wedding anniversary with hubby ;)

April:
Made up my mind after a long consideration and battles within myself, and tendered my resignation letter to my superior.

June:
-Visited one of my favourite tourist place, Hatyai.
-All girls happy trip to hot spring, Sungkai.

July:
-Time flies and it was 3 months since I tendered my resignation letter, bid farewell to all my colleagues on the 14th. It has been 4 years 1 month and 13 days since I worked at Silverstone, my first working place ever since grad.

-Became an ex colleague's make up model at NYX and won the best model ^^

August:
Thanks to father in law, hubby and I got the chance to travel again. This time was Sydney, Australia.

September:
Did 2 pregnancy home tests and both returned positive!! Yay :D Triple confirmed with doctor and I was then 6 weeks preggie ^_*

October:
Birthday celebration which falls on the same day as my best friend's wedding.

November:
Participated in Sense Yoga Studio demonstration.

December:
It's been a calmer month and I'm now anticipating 2012. Looking forward to a greater and happier new year, and cant wait to welcome my baby and carry him/her in my arms!! :)

I'm still learning to be a good mummy!

Lastly, I'd like to thank all of you who has been following me! Blogging is fun and it's something which keeps me happy ;)

A last minute decision

Since hubby got off from work a little earlier than expected, we made a last minute decision to Penang a day after Christmas ^^

Reached Queensbay Mall late in the evening and the traffic and crowd were still horrible!

Anyway, we settled our dinner at Sakae Sushi.

Had some sushis and I ordered a set of Katsudon while hubby had Tomi (with beef)

We managed to grab some clothes since it's mega sales. I din't really buy maternity clothing yet except for those maternity pants since I hardly fit into my short pants now. I opt for loose type of tees/dresses so that I can still wear them after I give birth ;)

Also bought a set of MAM baby bottles and Medela breastpump and sterilizer. Thats what we got so far for our 'coming soon' baby since I have the discount vouchers which will expires this 31st

Hubby and I are the first to get married and have kids among our siblings. It means there'll be no hand-me-downs and we have to buy all the baby necesseties on our own (unless friends volunteer hehehe).

Christmas without hubby :(

Christmas this year wasn't of anything special. Hubby is working so it was quite a lonely christmas for me :(

Anyway, as usual, I prepared some small Christmas gifts for a few friends...

In return, I got these back ;) It wasn't really a gift exchange session, just.. coincident ;)

I joined a few friends for lunch on this hot afternoon....

Christmas is approaching and Monday is a holiday! But I'm not in the mood at all..

Hubby is working on Monday so our shopping trip to Penang is officially cancelled T.T Goodbye mega sales :(

I'm still in my second trimester of pregnancy and to be honest, I'm enjoying all parts of it except for insomnia. The need to run to the bathroom constantly in the midnight is driving me crazy and it has happened since many weeks ago, and people told me it'll get more frequent in the weeks to come =_=

I've tried several methods which I believe will make me sleep better but these days, none of them work anymore. Guess the only thing I can do is, to get used to it....

Anyway, I shall not bored you anymore, here wishing you a Merry Merry Christmas!! ;)

Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol (2011)

Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his team are tracking down a dangerous terrorist Hendricks, who has the access to launch Russian nuclear codes. They without any helps or back up, must fight to accomplish the mission.

Well, this is the 4th installment of MI series and I must say no regrets watching it. I don't remember if I've watched the previous 3 installments but this one is definetely one of the best! Apart from all the exciting scenes, there're a few funny parts which I remember vividly ;)

Of course, Mr Cruise doesn't look young anymore compared to the previous episodes but he's still looking good and acting professionally. And by the way, the movie was filmed mainly at the incredible Dubai and Mumbai India.

Another married couple

So hubby and I attended my ex colleague's wedding reception last Sunday. This is supposed to be the last wedding reception we attended for this year, but hubby received another ad-hoc wedding invitation (verbally) from a not-so-close friend last week (another hole in hubby's pocket, LOL).

So that means we have another wedding reception to attend this coming Sunday..... =_=

Homemade goodness

Many commented to drink soy milk/soya bean during pregnancy so that the baby has fairer and smoother skin. I'm not really a soy milk drinker but if it really has nutrition values, no harm trying right!

Soy milk selling outside has preservative and some are too sweet so I reckon homemade is the best!

Simply soak some soybeans for 3 hours and above or preferably overnight (Here I mix with small amount of black beans). Then blend them well with some water. Note: I used normal fruit blender.

And here's the look after blended. Continue to blend all the beans and strain the puree several times until you get a pure soy juice. Here I use the normal coffee strainer

Here's the soybean dregs trapped in the strainer. To not waste them, I pour in more water and strain them again ;)

So I get a big pot of homemade soymilk! Next is to boil them at medium heat and keep stiring until it's fully cooked. Add in some pandan leaves for more flavor, you can put in some sugar if you want.

I do not want to eat too sweet these days so this pot is totally sugar-freed. It doesnt taste bad at all even without sugar, yumzz~

By the way, soy milk is high in protein and helps preventing cancer and osteoporosis, and also promoting eye health.

On an unrelated note, I want to share this piece of news....

We all know too much of everything is no good, especially processed food like instant noodles. This article says our liver need 32 days to detox for a pack of instant noodles.

I remember instant noodles were my buddy during University and working life. They can be so delicious, and most important of all, it's fast and convenient. They are also great when it's raining out there and when you don't feel like going out....

It's been a while since I last had a pack of instant noodles, and now after reading this, I think I'll think again before opening the pack. Plus now, it's a crucial time for me to eat healthily ;)

Year of the Dragon

Year of the Dragon is approaching and according to the Chinese, it's an auspicious year for many happy events such as marriage and getting a baby ;)

And speaking of getting a baby, as at today, I was told many of my friends are going to become mummies and daddies next year! Wow is that so auspicious?

And in case you're wondering, I'm one of them :)))

But hubby and I din't really plan for a Dragon baby in purpose, we just let things natural and not thinking too much. I'm now in second trimester and to be honest, pregnancy so far has been very kind to me. Apart from the common symptoms like feeling nauseous, fatigue, sore breasts and heartburn (occasionally), the rest to me were all tolerable (I've heard even the worse!) Thank God!

Baby bump at 16 weeks. I've gained about 1.5kg so far ;)

I know pregnancy is an exciting yet nerve-racking journey and I'm not sure what's installed for me, but I think I'm ready ;)

Was doing some spring cleaning to welcome CNY and I realise I actually keep alot of plastic shopping bags/paper bags and recycle bags.

Few years ago when recycle bags are not so popular, most people use the typical kinda plastic shopping bags (with their brands on it) and whenever I go shopping, I actually requested the sales person to give me one, haha. But now, they are something too much for me, as they're not so environment friendly.

So I think I'll just throw the extra ones away, and keep those recycle bags

But these one is ok. I collect these pretty mini gift bags as they come in handy whenever I go travel, can use to keep my jewelleries/make up cotton and so on

Do you collect these kinda bags like me? I bet you do.. :P

Now, to be more environmental friendly, I bring my own shopping bags to shopping and my own tupperwares to tapao. Also, cut down on tapao time and dine outside instead.

Attended quite alot of wedding dinners this year, now just one more to go next week. Guess people are rushing to produce a dragon baby next year? hehehe :P

It was my ex uni mate's wedding last Saturday night, as well as hubby's friend's wedding. So we went to the wedding receptions separately.

Petaling Street Warriors 2011

It's about life of a married couple set at Petaling Street background, mee seller (Mark Lee) and his wife (Yeo Yann Yann) and how they struggle through the colonial government and some chinese gangsters. Later he was told that he is the missing Emperor of Ming Dynasty and then gain some real kung fu and manage to protect himself and his loved ones.

To me, the whole storyline is just so so. Some parts of kung fu fighting, and not forgetting some hilarious parts. But I do see alot of new faces featured in this movie.

Anyway, Namewee is making positive progress and that's why I support this movie. LOL.

What to do with them?

Hello on a sunny Saturday morning! ;)

Something has been troubling me for some times, I really dont know what to do with them......

Few DVD folders...

And those in the TV cabinets....

As well as those in the racks....

Used to buy those nice and cute DVD folders and collect DVDs. But since most movies are downloadable these days hehe, hubby and I actually stop buying DVD for some times (except for those original ones to keep).

Now, these folders are collecting dusts and need space, I wonder should I sell them cheap cheap as second-hand DVDs? Or donate to wellfare homes? Hmmm....

Half a day at Puchong

Spent almost half a day at Puchong last Saturday for KY's wedding morning ceremony. I've blogged about the dinner HERE (just in case if you're wondering who).

Obviously, the theme color is RED. When 'the leader' told us about this, we were cracking our head where to find a red dress cause girls at our age rarely wear red! Well, may be for the first day of Chinese New Year... But luckily, I have one I bought for CNY 2 years ago ;)

So in the mood of CNY already haha

The leader prepared so many games for the bridegroom and heng dais! My part was just to help out whenever possible

Friends and I had the chance to feast at Jogoya Japanese Buffet last weekend. This is my second time there, the first time was years ago while I was studying at UM. Obviously, there's more varieties now! ;)

To some, 20.11.2011 is an ordinary Sunday but certainly not for us! My SIL became the official Mrs Lai and hence we've got a new member in the family ;)

The engagement ceremony was held at Taiping Buddhist Temple.

What happened in the hall: a simple praying ceremony, vows reading, rings exchange and marriage certificates were given

A total of 22 couples were being engaged on this special date (but only 20 pairs in the photos). SIL and her hubby were at the far left. Congratulations to all of them!

Later on, Andrew treated both families to lunch at SSL traders hotel.

Last weekend was indeed a good time to celebrate something happy. I attended an ex school mate's wedding dinner with a few friends.

Eat to live

Just a random post about food.

Went to the Sushi King RM2 bonanza yesterday with Yan and Yvonne and this round, I had only 4 plates. There were not many choices so not really in the mood to eat, LOL. Yan had blogged about it HERE.

Friend said it was kinda waste to eat only 4 plates during this promotion haha. My usual record is, 5 plates above, LOL.

Next, to me, the best claypot chicken rice in my hometown.

Sizzling hot claypot chicken rice! With add on salted fish and mushroom! The restaurant is called 'Ba Li' and it's located opposite Popular bookstore Taiping. But be patient if you going there cause the service is pretty slow..... But it's all worth~

Hubby went to a seminar at Ipoh today and all I can think of are the famous 'yim kok kai' (salted chicken) and JJ swiss rolls. But for him to locate the JJ swiss rolls shop might be abit troublesome so I settled with kok kok keh (chicken)... haha :P

My thoughts are with the people in Bangkok Thailand. Even after days since the flood, things seems bad and the whole situation is terrible.

I've never been to BKK before but it's definetely in my places-to-go wishlist. I've heard so much about it and I really plan to go! The food, the shopping and everything!

Now it's time to stop complaining and think about how lucky we are here (At least we face lesser disasters than other countries in the world). Let's pray things will be alright soon!

Happy Diwali and happy holiday! (Which almost comes to end soon....)

Just came back from Penang, spent hours in Neway singing my lung out, ate like there's no tomorrow, and took a walk at Straits Quay which I've never been before (jakun).
That's how I spent the Deepavali holiday.

I could have had a few photos to share but I dint take any photos this time and the camera was sitting nicely in my bag. I think I really lost the mojo to blog because last time, I used to take photos everywhere =_=

Just won't give up

Facebook is being widely used these days so I think we all should exercise precaution when accepting friend's requests and also not revealing too much personal information.

Surely we'll receive friend's requests on and off and for myself, there're these several people who came requesting as friend over and over again, even after I've rejected the requests =_= Til the extend I directly delete the request when I see it's the same person (even though we have some mutual friends).

*for illustration purpose only*

You see I don't simply accept requests (call me one kind, lansi or whatever) unless I know that person or he/she leaves a personal message of who he/she is (may be he/she is a friend of my friend or may be we've seen each other before). And I won't simply add others as friends just because they're popular but in actual fact we don't know each other (or I'll at least include a personal message).

I mean, no doubt FB is a great way to keep in touch with people from everywhere but if too much, that's not the meaning of it already. It's not that we're competing to see who has the highest number of friends......

And one more thing I'd like to share is, some people are just weird. They came requesting as friend but they keep their profile limited (so you can't see their infor and other photos of their faces), and worse of all, the profile picture is a cat/dog/scenery/a celebrity face/a quote and you-name-it! And they also don't include any message telling who they are. Funny don't you think?

Have you encounter similar cases? What's the key thing that make you accept that request if you don't know him/her? Mutual friends?

p/s: This post is just to share my personal experience and not intend to offense anyone.

Though some of the episodes are of few years ago, I love watching how Robert Rainford prepares and grills all the dishes. Of course most of the dishes he cooked are of high cholesterol, but I wont gain any weight just by watching, LOL. He's really a good host and good cook, I always think that man who cooks well is very sexy! :P

Host by Gordon Ramsay, Joe Bastianich and Graham Elliot. This is another exciting reality show to watch. It's fun watching how the contestants compete with each other and come out with their own ideas, as well as back stabbing and critic about others. Sometimes I really salute the contestants because they are so creative in cooking even though the time is short, and they know lots of cuisine! I will definetely fail, haha :P

Host by the famous Gordon Ramsay, I enjoy watching this very much! He is just too strict and fierce in front of the contestants, don't make him mad because 4 letter words would come out from his mouth anytime! Whether they do it on purpose for the show, as long as the audiences enjoy, I guess it doesn't really matter.

I love these shows, but when it comes to cooking on my own, I'll probably give some excuses and run away, LOL. Well, it all depends on the mood la actually :P

Went to her bachelorette night, she served buffet dinner which I think most people does...

Real Steel 2011

It's a very sci fi movie where robot boxing is so popular and an ex boxer, Charlie (Hugh Jackman) fights his way to become champion using all types of advance robots. Joined by his 11 year old son, Max (Dakota Goyo), they amaze the world by using a discarded robot found in the trash.

I like the idea of robot boxing and it's really excited watching them fight, though I'm not sure how feasible it is in reality. Anyway, I think the director really worked it by featuring Hugh Jackman as the main actor cause he fits the character so well!

Combating flu/cold

I caught a flu lately and it's really irritating. Well actually it's not really a serious kinda flu, just that I sneeze alot and thus cause runny nose. I know taking Vitamin C is good but apart from that, there're lots of natural common food which can help combat flu too. Here's what I found from this website.

1. Black/Green Tea
I dint know green tea helps! Now more reason for me to drink green tea! ;)

2. Garlic

I love garlic and I can top it with plain rice, seriously. And I think you'll agree that garlic is the best thing to eat with bak kut teh ;) The only bad thing about it is, have to deal with a smelly mouth later :P

3. Oyster
Oyster? Seriously? Well, I don't think it's a common food anyway, and I only eat cheese baked oysters cause I'm afraid of the raw taste.

4. Yogurt

5. Orange-fleshed vegetables
Pumpkins and sweet potatoes are 2 great sources! Not really a pumpkin lover but now have to try to love it.....

Birthday this year was a blast, having to celebrate it with the whole gang of good friends and best of all, it's the same day as my best friend's wedding! Such a special celebration!

My ex colleagues had given me an advance celebration as well, they treated me to a good lunch and bought me a cake. You can read about it at Yvonne's blog. Thanks and really appreciate it, ladies ;)

Anyway, on the actual day, apart from helping out my friend Annie on her big day, she arranged a birthday celebration at a leisure house at Taiping, after attended her wedding dinner.

Hello peeps! Thank you once again for the birthday wishes! I had tones of fun over the weekend but before I blog about it, I would like to seek for advices/tips on how to stop snoring problem! >=(

I know it's pretty normal for people to snore (especially men) but sometimes it really drives me crazy! Many times I became sleepless and tired cause hubby snores the whole night. I even read about a real life story that a couple divorced because the husband snores so badly!

I gotto admit I'm very particular in sleeping, I require total darkness (not really a big issue anyway) and most important of all, total silence.

I googled and found this website which offers solutions but I think hubby tried most of them and still not working well. I know it's not really his fault for snoring but if you know any tips to share, I'll really appreciate it!

I was a vegan since Monday in conjuction with the Nine Emperor Festival. Today is the last day and I'm looking forward to the dinner later cause after this, I'm free and the first thing I wanna eat tomorrow is McChicken from McD!! haha :D

Oh by the way, just to share a yummy noodles here:
It's called 黄酒鸡面线 (Noodles with ricewine). Selling at RM4 per bowl, it has generous amount of side dishes like chicken slices, eggs, black fungus and vegetables. The soup is super delicious!!

The location is at Lake Garden Food Court, 初记小贩中心, which situated just opposite the famous lake garden Taiping.

Ok, now I wanna change my mind, this noodles would be the first thing I wanna eat tomorrow!! :P

It was my ex school mate aka ex colleague's big day last weekend, congratulations to Celine! =)

Hi all, I'm back! ;)

BDS gang and I were invited by Ken to his brother's wedding reception last week, it was held at Soon Lee restaurant.

A photo of the newly wed. The bride stays so slim and beautiful even after giving birth to a cute baby gal (Yep, they held the wedding reception after the baby was born)

Next day after the barchelorette party, we dressed up nicely to attend KY registration at Thian Hou Gong.

Barchelorette night

As usual, we had a good time catching up and laughing, while feeding our tummies. This is a all gals party, and basically we were in our sleep wears, so I think it's safer not to reveal too much of the photos. But those photos surely a memorable collection! ;)

Later that night, Esther brought us to Bar 21 at Bangsar.

We had some drinks, took some photos, and enjoyed the music there. Also, enjoy watching the leng zai ang moh there, hahaha :P

Wanna ask the 2 barchelorettes to perform some tricks, but they were too shy...

Another purpose of this trip is to attend KY's registration at Thian Hou Gong the next day, will blog about it next~

Sushi 2.0

The last sushi making session was 2 years ago which I've blogged about HERE.

Now, after the movie Nasi Lemak 2.0, we lauched our own Sushi 2.0, LOL :P

Of course they key thing is to make a good sushi rice, but I'm not going to elaborate on this as I've already mentioned in my previous post. Alternatively, you can search for the steps online.

Tada! This time sushi session was faster and smoother, as we already learnt how to cook a good sushi rice, and with the RM5 sushi mould from Daiso, it actually speed up the whole process

We cooked the whole pack of sushi rice and utilised all the ingredients, these able to make about 5 big plates of sushi altogether

Mid Autumn Festival 2011

I've been MIA in the blogsphere for a few days and now I have lots to catch up on =_=

Anyway, I was at KL for a short trip to attend a friend's hens night and registration ceremony, it wasn't me driving but I felt really tired these few days... Must be not getting enough sleep/rest... =_=

Ok back to the topic, mid autumn festival is officially over and similar to previous years, Taiping Lake Garden was real happening! Lots of crowd, candles, lanterns and fireworks!

The final post of my Sydney trip! Wanna do it quick before my readers started to feel bored....

We stayed at Oaks Pacific Blue Resort on the 1st night.

The surroundings are so nice! I was so excited when I googled about it at home before the trip

I am willing to stay here........

We stayed at Mercure Hotel for the rest of the nights... It's situated right in the heart of the city.

The room is much simpler, so nothing to shout about

As this incentive trip is more to sight seeing rather than shopping, we didn't really buy alot compare to last year. Exchange rate was AUD$1 = MYR 3.30.

At Chinatown, we had our meals here most of the time. There're lots of souvenir shops here but prices are slightly expensive

Sydney Tower and misc

Another famous spot we passed by in Sydney is the Harbour bridge.

Anyway, we were still able to see Sydney from top, by visiting the Sydney Tower.

Back to my Sydney trip travelogue =)

We went to The Rocks area one fine morning, here's Opera House and Harbour Bridge from far, with a beautiful sky~

Stopped by the rich-people-neighbourhood while on the way to Bondi beach. We passed by alot of big and nice mansions along the way

Nasi Lemak 2.0 (2011)

Well, one local movie that I support~ Though I didn't expect much before entering the cinema, I had a good laugh! (So as the rest in the cinema!) :D

One thing which I'm really impressed is Namewee's effort to include some of the iconic local artistes such as Reshmonu, Kenny and Chee (the famous Baba n Nyonya who has 'disappear' from the movie industry for so long!). Also, thumbs up for his effort in directing and script writing.

Just a short post before the weekend arrives! =)

I've been drinking this collage drink for about a week already.....

It's from this brand, 满点肌, a product from Japan

10 bottles for the price of RM145

According to the SA, this collagen drinks will make your skin flawless after consuming for a period of time. And now after a week of consuming it, I did not see any significant improvement on my face. But one thing I realise is that my nose has become smoother and less blakcheads! Not sure is it the results of this drinks, but to me it's still a good news! =)

Anyway, my main purpose wasn't to buy this collagen drinks at first, I was looking for the eye mask actually, after reading the positive comments from Female magazine. 6 eye mask for the price of RM 155

The SA told me if I buy their collagen drinks, I'd entitled a 40% discount for the eye mask (yea, business tactics) So that's why I ended up buying the collagen drinks (which I never had before, cause I was worried of the side effects)

One thing I like about this eye mask is the specially designed shape, which moisturise the temples, upper eyelid and under eye area. And the mask smells good too~

Wondering why I'm in love with eye mask? Cause the skin around the eyes are the most delicate, and we should always take good care of it to avoid wrinkles/dark circles/eye bags, before it's too late. This is also the area which will betrays you and reveal your age.......

Food at Sydney

Resuming my Sydney travelogue =)
This post is all about food we had throughout the trip. This time, I managed to capture the food before swallowing them down, cause I met a lady who is also a photographer wannabe like me, hehehe :)

I'm just gonna write random comments about the food.

We had dim sum at Chinatown upon arrival, though these dim sum look tempting, most of us couldn't finish them, due to jet lag (may be) and lack of sleep in the plane.... But gotto agree, the plain porridge and yao cha kuai were really nice!!

This was lunch at McGuigan winery, turkey styled bread, salad, fish n chip and grilled steak

Lunch at the resort we stayed, super big piece of chicken chop and grilled steak

This were one of the dinner. The Toohey's New beer was quite nice, less gas!

The red bean tong sui was nice!!

Visited Sydney fish market on Day 5, the 2nd largest fish market in the world

Boss treated us fresh oysters and some fried stuff. yummzz~

Lunch before visiting Blue Mountain, the fried kangaroo meat (bottom right) was good~

We had mostly chinese food cooked by Hongkie~

Scrumptious garden buffet at one of the casino, so much variety to choose from!

This were supper, 2 different style of crabs, curry and roti, the cook is a retired Malaysian from Ipoh (nice~)

We had 8 course meal on the last night at Sydney, got to taste the nice abalone~

Ok, this was lunch before departing to airport and say bye bye to Sydney =(

Boss also treated everyone Royal Copenhagen ice cream

I was looking for Max Brenner ice cream actually, but couldn't find them =( Anyway, this one also jadi la :P

Nothing much to comment about the food, basically the tour management tried their best to serve us chinese food since all the members were Chinese. Not forgetting some specialties of Sydney. But you know, sambal and cili padi are essential for most Malaysian but these 2 things were kinda hard to find there.. haha :D

Slap chop

How many of you have been using Slap Chop, the food chopping machine?

This product hit the web few months ago and by watching the introductory video, it looks like a good handy kitchen helper! Immediately a friend ordered quite alot of this product through Internet

After a month of waiting, it finally arrived. One slap chop and one cheese graty, both cost me about RM30+ (including postage fees) if I'm not mistaken

But I was abit disappointed when I opened and examined the slap chop machine. The chopping blades are just those thin iron slices. And basically, we can't chop everything as what mentioned in the video (Well, I guess that's the biggest disadvantage of buying things online)

Anyway, I can't say it's totally useless, this slap chop machine does do good in chopping softer food like garlic, fruits and etc, which saves times.

I did it again

After the previous clubbing session, I told myself that clubbing isn't my thing anymore.

But opps, I did it again :P Joined some friends to Barroom, Ipoh last weekend for a crazy tired clubbing session.

It was already near to 12am when we reached and most seats were being taken up. But luckily, we got a table upstair.

Hubby wasn't really drunk la.. :P

The crowd became lesser when it was about 3am, so we moved to downstair, much closer to the DJ area and the bass was good!

One last photo to end this short post. We party until 4am, and went for early breakfast at McD nearby.. =_= It has been ages since I last did that, I mean party until late midnight like this, at outstation somemore.....

I did not had a single drop of alcohol, but the guys had too much, it's definetely safer for me to drive us back home.. *yawn*

Anyway, it's a nice club. Despite the limited space, the music and atmosphere certainly drive us crazy~

The long holiday is over and it's time to get back to some serious works! Yea it sucks but, life goes on! Let's look forward to the next holiday then :P

Back to my trip, this day we visited Featherdale Wildlife Park. It's actually a smaller version of zoo, not much animals here but definetely has the main attractions, koala bears and kangaroos!

I'm not sure about the ticket price though...... :P

Taking a break from my Sydney post =)

I travelled North to Penang on National Day, with hubby and 3 more friends. The main purpose, karaoke session and makan makan!

A lady friend joined us there. We were at Neway, QB mall

Karaoke included free flow drinks, salad buffet and a set of lunch for each of us. Sang alot for complete 3 hours! (yea!)

As for dinner, we settled at a seafood restaurant called Hai Boey (direct translate: end of the sea), it's located at Bayan Lepas and took us about 10 mins to reach there.

It was 5pm~

Exactly by the beach. But the sea water is abit dirty though

Signature fried eggplant with meat (RM9)

Stir fry long beans (RM12)

Steamed coral grouper (RM175)

Steam tofu with minced meat (RM15)

Curry prawns in coconut shell (RM20)

Total bill including drinks is RM269. Can't really judge it's cheap or expensive, as I know seafood in Penang is quite expensive.... But overall the food is nice, especially the curry prawns, the taste is unique.

We visited Tobruk Sheep Station on day 4, it's far away from the Sydney city and at here, we experience real fresh air and great view! No hustle bustle.

Mr Gordon is very nice and friendly, he showed us all around the farm. And he prepared tea and home made bread for us

Games we played

Hello, I bet most of you are enjoying the long holidays! =)

Here's the continuation from my Sydney post, I wanna share the games we played during the trip.

This is the beautiful beach at Anna Bay

We came here early morning to try sand boarding!

This is the 4 wheels drive which takes us to the sand slope, it can carry about 20 people at one go

The coach explained to us how to play the sand boarding, and I can't wait to try already~

That's hubby in action, hehe

And that's me! I know the image is too small.. but trust me, it was me :P

Hubby was good at it, he played for like 5 times. As for myself, I failed during the first time, the board slipped off from my buttock, LOL. But during the 2nd and 3rd attempt, I was ok!

Us again, wind was strong at the top, with sand blowing and hitting on our skin! To make thing worse, I forgot to bring my sunglasses this time!! So sands blowing into my eyes, and hit hard on my face! T.T

After an hour game, we took a mini group photo before leaving Anna Bay

With the sand boarding coach. Sand boarding is fun, but climbing up the sand slope while carrying the board is tiring. But whatever it is, I did enjoy myself!! =)

Besides sand boarding, we learnt how to crack a whip and throw a boomerang at Tobruk Sheep Station.

Then, throwing a boomerang, and watch it comes back (but never try to catch the boomerang with hands cause it's dangerous)

Each of us had the chance to try! (I will blog more about Tobruk Sheep Station next)

Though these games might not sounds unique, they are certainly an eye opener for me! It was a nice and fun experience~

Final Destination 5 (2011)

Similar to the previous installments (which I've never missed any), it's about a guy who has premonition to death and trying to escape and survive.
All sickening and scary blood and flesh scenes still maintain, but as for storyline, I'd say it's only so-so. Somehow, part 1 and part 2 are still my favourite! (May be because of the actors and actress)

I did have a hard time watching all the shocking blood scenes in the cinema, LOL. But still I pretty enjoy that moment :P

Sydney, when we arrived

Weather was extremely good when we arrived! I was told that it was end of winter but weather was tolerable most of the time! After breakfast, we leave Sydney town for a while and took an 2 hour bus ride to the other side of Sydney, the Hunter Valley Garden.

Hubby and I, lunch was at a cafe called Brokenback bar. I will gather all food pictures in a post next =)

That's Mr Stephen pouring wines for us to taste, as well as explaining the background of this winery. We tasted about 5-6 types of wines (in a small glass), and end up hubby and I din't buy any, LOL, cause we are not a big fan of wine. Price range from $20 - $64.

Next, we walked to this cheese store situated next to the winery, and tasted some of the specialty hand-made cheeses

I saw this lonely Mr Horse being tied to the tree, so I went talked to him :P

See he was happy that we approached him!! LOL

Next, we came to Hunter Valley Gardens, one of my favourite spot throughout this whole trip!

Had some western tea session with friends at the Geographer, situated at Puchong Boulevard

This Puchong Boulevard is becoming more and more happening, with lots of cafes, restaurants and pubs. I know where to go already the next time I go KL ^^ Anyone been there?

And on the day I boarded the plane to Sydney, I drove to Dreamz Bakery, situated at Kota Damansara. Read alot about this bakery through the pretty tauke soh, Hwi Yee.

I ordered this green tea layer cake, while enjoying their free wi fi, and waiting for Hwi Yee to come back

Unfortunately, Hwi Yee is too busy til she forgotten our date T.T So I left with these two cakes.....

Chocolate layer cake.... (can't remember the price, but it's between RM8-RM9)

and a piece of vanilla layer cake for hubby. And if you ask me how was the cake? Of course they taste great! I think you can tell by the looks ^^

Home sweet home

Good day mate! How's life everyone?

I am back from my 7D5N Sydney trip! Apart from souvernirs and great memories (not forgetting a few kilos =_=), I also brought back fever, sorethroat and flu! T.T
But I am getting better today after taking the medicines, so no worries, I'll just need more rest.

Meanwhile, here's a photo of hubby and I with Opera House. Please give me some times to visit you and I promise to update my blog asap!

Believe it or not?

Few days ago, I read an article published in one of the local newspaper, saying that the Hungry Ghost Festival this year is the strongest of all. Not only in paper, I think I saw friends posted some links in FB too.

Now, tomorrow is the day, 14th July, I know it's best to not go out at night, or at least go home early if you're going out, but so coincidentally it falls on a Saturday, a night when most ~~youngsters~~ people are looking forward to! It'll be bored if just staying at home, right? :P

Anyway, the article I read says that, wearing something RED tomorrow helps to eliminate those spirits/'good buddy'. I'm not really superstitious when comes to this thing, but then again, no harm trying right? 宁可信其有，不可信其无.

Red dress, checked. Well, at least these are the things I'm able to do la~

Do you read something similar like I mentioned? Whatever it is, please be extra careful for this whole month (I'm reminding myself too) and meanwhile, have a safe and fun weekend! =)

Sakae Sushi Genmaicha Tea

I'm a big fan of green tea and before this I think Sushi King's green tea is the best, but until I tasted rice tea, I changed my mind.

Bought this Genmaicha roasted rice tea from Sakae Sushi, RM19.90 for 20 packets (which is quite expensive I think)

Roasted rice tea is comparable to green tea except that it has a more yellowish color, and there's this roasted nutty flavor in it. It is a great antioxidant and decrease the risks of cancer. It is also rich in Vitamin B, iron and fiber.

I did not planned to watch this, but after reading a few positive comments from friends, I decided to join the gang in the cinema. Turns out, not bad!

I love how they did the apes thingy! I learn from here that all the apes were created digitally by Weta Digital using motion capture. And the main apes, Caesar, he's really smart and looks like human being in certain ways. Is it true that human evolved from monkey?

Anyway, not much love stuff in this movie but quite alot of actions in the end. Overall, I'd give a personal rating of 4/5.

Genki Up!

I came across this restaurant some times ago, but din't have the chance to taste the food.

It's called Genki Up, 元气. Genki in Japanese means fine/well so you can tell this restaurant serves some nutritious food~

Several types of cakes!

Even man tao and pao

The shop. No air conditioners though

They also have ice cream!

And this is the nutritious drinks, a lot of combinations of fruits which serve different functions like slimming, detox, strengthen the immune system and so on. Price range from RM3.50 to RM5

They display some of the food photos on the wall, as well as the benefits of each fruits. Very informative!

Ordered this Hokkien fried kuey teow. Nice~

Fried glass noodles. Taste nice and the sambal is good! But it's too much as breakfast, may be more suitable for lunch?

Chocolate and peanut waffle. This is the hard type, I prefer the soft type though

Toast with hash brown and cheese

Total bill for 4 of us including drinks is RM 26.30, quite reasonable I think. They serve no pork no lard so it's halal. Serving speed is acceptable.

Will surely go there again.
