A happy potluck night

Yvonne aka Ah Hua Whatsapp me one day and asked if I am free to join their potluck comes birthday celebration for our dai koh, Khoo.
After much consideration (LOL), I decided to bring Aden along. But I sorta warned him before going and asked him to behave that night :p

It was a potluck night so each of us contributed some food. There were pizza, putu mayong, satay, fried drumsticks, fried beehoon and fruits, and drinks of course :p
Guess what did I bring? No prize for guessing it right though, haha xD

The cake for the birthday man

That's the birthday man (in grey shirt) and also the host. The other 3 also celebrate their birthday in February so we asked them to join in together

Make a wish and blow the candle!

Group photo before we left. We look like one big happy family, don't we? ^^

They're actually my dear ex colleagues, with some new staffs whom I never met before. Heard that they are extremely busy and stressful working in Toyo now, that's why Yannie and Yvonne hardly blog these days........

So did Aden behaved that night? Erm not really, he din't want to share toys with Khoo's son and tend to beat him :0
I was so embarrassed and before I left, I actually apologized to Khoo for Aden's misbehave. But I guess that's what happen when toddlers play together?

By the way, I brought fried beehoon for the potluck ;) Overall, tt was short but a fun night!

Til then, enjoy your weekend peeps!

  1. So nice. I love get-togethers with friends. Belated happy birthday to the birthday boy.

  2. hello hello, it's friday!! ah, but the weather is still hot though it kind of rained briefly last night in my area.. adoi, really hope it will rain heavily one day so that we don't have to suffer from the water supply rationing lah.. kesian lah seeing those people gotta hunt up and down for water supply.. though my area is not in the list, but still better stay on alert all the time lah.. err, Taiping no problem right?? cos anytime can bring water from Taiping Lake ke?? :p

    1. eih, how nice!! though you have left the company for years, and yet you were still remembered and invited to attend events among the colleagues.. you must be the 紅牌阿姑 in your company last time right?? haha..

    2. nice lah having potluck, everyone shares the cost and also the chores, no need the host 拼了老命 to get everything done and to serve so many people hor?? and it's a great idea to celebrate the birthday for all whose birthday fall in the same month huh??

come to this hor?? errr, i remember last time you all celebrated birthday in the company right?? now the Japanese got in, and also you all separated in two different locations, so tough to celebrate together and that's why have to do it offsite at one of the colleague's house??

    3. yeah, i can see Yannie and April, Ah Hua and Avery, Hayley and Aden.. and all also brought one kid along, more and cannot control the situation?? haha.. i wonder if May and Lil Chi will jealous they were left at home while their siblings can follow mommy to party - or maybe they felt lucky that they didn't have to follow?? :p

BTW whose kid is that who joined the birthday "boys and girls" to blow candles?? his birthday also??

    4. haha, never mind lah, kids playing only no need to be so serious lah.. one minute they fought, but the next minute they can be good friends again.. just like what we were last time lah, can shout 我不要跟你好!! and then 5 mintues later, can hold hands and share one cup of soft drinks already~~

    5. Taiping got problem! But not as serious as your area I guess! Haze is here, and I hate it!! Really pray our dear God shower us with rain!
Bring water from Taiping lake? LOL! Impossible, cause it has turned into a desert now :(

Yes, I am thankful that my ex colleagues still remember to invite me!! 红牌啊姑, haha of course no la! I am kind and friendly that's why they remember me lo! xD

Yes, potluck is easier and can be fun too!
Definitely cannot celebrate birthday in the office now, not even eating in the office during working hours! Very strict now.

May got tuition, Lil Chi was there leh, can't see him in the photo?
That kid is the host's son, joined in for fun, hehe~

Haha yala I know, but still

  3. so nice to have gathering with old and new friends. Boy tends to be boy. They will be more aggressive.

  4. A nice gathering...

    Enjoy your weekend ya... :)

  7. How nice!

Good la have birthdays gathering like this :)

  8. Very nice to have gatherings like this once in a while. Guess Aden did ok. No major tantrums, just normal toddlers playing together.

    1. Ya, no major tantrums but already gave me headache, LOL!

  9. I'd my potluck with a bunch of good buddies on the lunar 9th day too. Fun-filled and wonderful. We do it almost every year.. hope it will continues ever and ever.. :)

  11. potluck is fun. you get to try all kinds of dishes. Fun birthday gathering!

  12. Nice gathering... good to meet up with colleagues again, whether old or new... your Ayden not sharing toys? Maybe he hasn't experienced sharing with other kids before.. but good to tell him when the need arises... :)

    1. Well, I guess that's because he owns his toys all by himself at home, no one rebut with him, but when playing with others, he won't want to share sometimes.

  13. That's so lovely, Hayley, to celebrate a birthday with friends around and creating memories together. =) Reading your post pretty much reminds me of how my friends ganged up on me and surprised me with a birthday celebration. ^_^

    1. That's sweet, must be memorable to you..

  14. Dont worry too much. Kids always like that. They misbehave when there is other kids around. But good to get him miggle with other kids to build his social skill with other kids.

    Nice party. I love potluck.

    1. Yea I know, but kinda embarrassed la cause Aden made the other kid cried!

  15. So Aden was the real "dai kor" at your dai kor's birthday party, eh? Nice gathering with all the yummy food!

  16. The food looks so yummy

    Where's the curry? Haha

  18. Wow ... so much food. Looks like a nice gathering.

  19. congratulation on new blog template. refreshing

    1. nice potluck. got so many food...sure to have something that everyone wanna eat.

no photo of your fried bihun?

    2. Haha thank you!

Got ar, cannot see in the first photo? It's on top left side, the brown thingy xD

  21. I always enjoy pot luck gatherings at homes with school mates too. I feel the warmth and fun more than eating in restaurants. At the restaurant, we order, makan around a big table and no individual gossips & private talk. Then good night & bye!

    1. Got good and bad la! Potluck like this need to clean the mess afterwards lo! If go out and eat, can cabut terus! Haha!

  22. Love such fun get togethers! Was having one too last Sunday before the haze became really bad.

Hmm

BFF trip to Bangkok 2013: The food post

Bangkok is not only a heaven for the men shopping but also food! I've actually Google and blog hopping beforehand to see what's worth to eat at Bangkok, can only chose the most popular ones as we were there for only 4 days 3 nights, a very rush trip.
I've filtered out those food we ate during the trip which I think worth mentioning.
@ Food court, Platinum Mall Green curry chicken rice
Beef noodles
Fruit crepe
The food court is so big here in Platinum Mall, hundreds of tables are provided but almost all are occupied.

Dessert @ Swensen, Platinum Mall

(pale looking face, first day after touching down) Swensen is not in my itinerary, we decided to go here instead of Mr Jones Orphanage at Siam Center cause of the location. Siam Center is further away from where we stay, but Platinum Mall is just about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. End up, no regrets! Much cheaper and yummier compared to Malaysia.

T&K seafood, Chinatown  (It's easier to get here by metered cab)

By far…

To Penang again

Another Penang trip sponsored by my brother <3

The last staycation at Penang was during April (Click HERE to read).

Driving to Penang is easy for me, just about an hour, smooth drive along the highway and on the bridge, slightly jam from Gurney towards Batu Ferringhi though~

And here we are! This time we checked into Park Royal resort again, because we got a complimentary upgrade to suite rooms as promised by the manager 😁
The lounge area is now opened after refurnished, very big and comfortable place
Waiting to check in, wefie first la! 😄
Welcome drinks

Check-in was fast, the boys can't wait to see the rooms!

The room is big and nice with all basic necessities, nothing much to complain la haha!

Complimentary snacks and nutmeg juice

It has a smaller toilet outside...

... and a bigger one with bathtub near the bed. Needless to say, my sons were the most excited ones when they see the bathtub! 😊

Without wasting times, we changed into our swimming attires and off to the…
