The Nutella craze

Hello, I wonder how many Nutella lovers out there? Well, I am surely one of them!
I baked 2 types of cakes with Nutella last and this week and the outcome is simply yummy!

First one, Nutella swirl pound cake.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
4 large eggs, at room temperature
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 sticks (8 oz / 225 g / 1 cup) unsalted butter, softened
1 1/4 cups sugar (I used 1 cup)
One 13-ounce (350 g) jar Nutella

Steps:
1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C). Lightly grease and flour a 9-by-5-inch loaf pan, tapping out any excess flour.
2. Lightly beat the eggs with the vanilla.
3. In a medium bowl, whisk the 1 1/2 cups of flour with the baking powder and salt.
4. In a large bowl, beat the butter with the sugar at medium-high speed until fluffy.
5. Then gradually beat in the egg mixture until fully incorporated. Add the flour mixture in 3 batches, beating at low speed between additions until just incorporated. Continue to beat for 30 seconds longer.
6. Spread one-third of the batter in the prepared pan, then spread half of the Nutella on top. Repeat with another third of the batter and the remaining Nutella. Top with the remaining batter. Lightly swirl the Nutella into the batter with a butter knife. Do not overmix.
7. Bake the cake for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes. Invert the cake onto a wire rack, turn it right side up and let cool completely, about 2 hours. 

Ready to bake!

And the outcome, baked this for my dear mother for Mother's Day! And she loves it! ;)


Next, Nutella cheesecake bars.

Ingredients:
2 cups Oreo crumbs1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
16 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
2 eggs, at room temperature
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup Nutella

Steps:1. Preheat oven to 325F (170C). Butter an 8×8 baking dish and line with parchment paper, making sure that the parchment is well pressed in the corners. Set aside. 
2. In a food processor (I use normal kitchen blender and it works fine too), pulse Oreos until they become crumbs. Add in melted butter and pulse until moistened. Press Oreo mixture evenly into the bottom of your baking dish. Bake crust until set, about 12 minutes. Set aside to cool.
3. Clean out the food processor. Add cream cheese, eggs, sugar, ¼ cup heavy cream, and vanilla. Pulse until smooth. Put 2/3 of the cream cheese mixture in a bowl and set aside.
4. Add Nutella and 1 tablespoon of heavy cream to the remaining 1/3 cream cheese mixture in the processor. Pulse until smooth.
5. To assemble, spread the plain cheesecake mixture over the cooled Oreo crust, being careful of the crust. Then pour the Nutella cheesecake layer on top of the plain cheesecake layer and spread evenly.
6. Bake on the center rack of the oven for about 35 minutes, or until the center jiggles slightly. Remove from the oven and cool completely on a cooling rack. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours.
7. When ready to serve, lift the bars out of the pan by lifting up the parchment paper (it should release easily). Cut into 16 squares and serve.

I think the smaller the cube is, the better it taste.

  1. oh, i love Nutella too!! actually i think i like hazelnut lah, and then when it goes with chocolates, i think they are a perfect match!! but then one jar of Nutella also not cheap, so sometimes i opt for other brands of choc+hazelnut spread to go with my bread lor.. only when got promo then will get Nutella, 我就是那麼的Uncle囉, haha~~

    1. aiyoyo!! look at that Nutella swirl pound cake!! i LOVE it, half way reading already drooling lah, you are so bad.. the pound cake looks moist and delicious.. actually i love any kind of pound cake, the moister the better be it of any flavor.. but this one with Nutella, surely a heaven for me lah.. before you baked it, the mixture really looks like "something" but then after it's baked, look!! so delicious and make people want to eat only.. i can have one whole cake of that no doubt~~ :D

Orea base, cream layer and Nutella layer, so sinful but then so heavenly delicious.. i SUPER LOVE this one.. and yes, you are right, cutting it into bite-size pieces surely more delicious.. one mouth one piece, and i think 不經不覺 i can wallop the whole tray leh, no joke.. i remember last time there's a shop selling all these stuffs, Mrs Fields you heard of?? do we still have that here in Malaysia now?? i always buy a packet and then one shot wallop everything.. and your Nutella cheesecake bars surely makes me do that~~ :D

      And right, Nutella is not cheap, I buy it once a while only.

      Erm, that cheesecake bars is really sinful, I can 'feel' the calories once I put the cube into my mouth, but what to do? It's so yummy and cannot resist leh...

  9. Looks like I've found the substitute for the digestive/Graham biscuits that I use as a crust every time I'm doing cheesecake. ^^ Nutella!!

    I'm not a big fan of Nutella; in fact, I've never eaten it before in my whole life because the 'rents wouldn't allow me to touch it. Not sure why. =O

I rather wait for Yvonne to bake this and treat me a piece of them enough. How I wish you are still in the same office with us, then I can try your bake.

Hmm 近期有用了些我觉得很不错的美容产品想和大家分享分享。
1. Tosowoong pore brush 这是我美容师介绍的,来自韩国的电动洗脸仪。据说是韩国最好卖的电动洗脸仪。用的是0.045mm的nano钎维细毛,最大功能就是能彻底的深入毛孔而清洁毛孔里的污垢,同时也不会令毛孔粗大,效果比平时我们用手洗来的更干净。因为用的是很软的细毛所以可以每天使用,也不会造成什么皮肤敏感等问题。 基本上它的操作方法就好像电动牙刷一样,先将细毛弄湿然后挤上洗面乳,on一on,就可以轻轻的往脸上洗。
上回从曼谷回来脸上突然起了好多粉刺油粒,而且还是会痒的那种,应该是那边的水和空气肮脏,加上喝不够水,又不够睡,搞到毛孔诸塞阿!刚好美容师介绍了这个 pore brush,用了几天后,真的有觉得皮肤比较干净亮丽!不过我并没有每天用啦!有时赶时间的时候,用手洗会比较快 xD 想要更了解Tosowoong pore brush的朋友,可以按这里

每次用完后把细毛稍微清洗,然后放在附送的stand上,自然风干就可以了

这些细毛也不会集水,所以很快就会吹干了
里面用的是一个AAA电池。基本上只要把盖锁紧,整个洗脸棒浸在水里也没问题。 售卖价格:RM 170

2。那天去索取了一包7天装的 Clarins double serum sample,用了一次后立刻爱上它了!!我一直以来对Clarins的产品都有好评。这个也不例外! 它是以油和水所制成的,里面共有20种植物精华,主要功能是抗老,减少皱纹,缩小毛孔,紧实肌肤,让肌肤有弹性。 我一直相信抗老必须从早做起所以在还未迈入‘3张’就必须打好基础,呵呵~

包装里有两种精华分别是水性的和油性的。把两种精华混合在一起,轻轻往脸上压和拍打就可以了,不需要刻意…

BFF trip to Bangkok 2013: The food post

Bangkok is not only a heaven for the men shopping but also food! I've actually Google and blog hopping beforehand to see what's worth to eat at Bangkok, can only chose the most popular ones as we were there for only 4 days 3 nights, a very rush trip.
I've filtered out those food we ate during the trip which I think worth mentioning.

The food court is so big here in Platinum Mall, hundreds of tables are provided but almost all are occupied.

Dessert @ Swensen, Platinum Mall

(pale looking face, first day after touching down) Swensen is not in my itinerary, we decided to go here instead of Mr Jones Orphanage at Siam Center cause of the location. Siam Center is further away from where we stay, but Platinum Mall is just about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. End up, no regrets! Much cheaper and yummier compared to Malaysia.

2D1N Hatyai trip

I have been to Hatyai many times and I am not bored of it yet, haha!! xD
It's one of my favorite place to go, I mean considering the fact that I can't really travel oversea at the moment (no money and no time).
But traveling to Hatyai is still consider 'oversea' la right? 😆 It's just that we go there by car instead of plane.... Just 2 hours plus to reach kastam, almost like from Taiping to KL.

We had a short getaway to Hatyai last month, it was 2 days after the Songkran festival. We tagged Aden and Toby along so hubby suggested to avoid that festival.

Journey was smooth from Taiping all the way to the kastam, just the queue at the kastam was a bit tiring. We managed to check in early, lucky!

We stayed at Grand Pink hotel, I simply love this hotel because the room is big and clean! Staff service is nice too! Highly recommended, heard it's been refurnished lately. It's located next to Lee Garden Plaza so it's easy to find!
